Industry veteran Dennis Mahoney will take up his second new board commitment in as many months after agreeing to join Ironshore.
Mahoney recently joined modelling and managing general agency firm Sciemus as chairman of its board in a move which also saw him become an investor in the company.The 42-year stalwart of the broking industry, who rose to become chairman and chief executive of Aon Global in London, is one of two new directors appointed by the Bermudian insurer. Former senior vice president and chief investment officer of Allstate, Eric Simonson is the other.
During his years with Aon Mahoney served in a number of senior leadership roles in retail, wholesale and reinsurance. He also currently serves as a director of global insurance standards organisation, Acord.
On joining Sciemus recently the company’s chief executive, Andre Finn, said Mahoney would be more than just a figurehead, adding: “He will be a central figure in our team, whose knowledge and contacts will help drive our vision to make Sciemus the market leader in our field.”
Mahoney will be among the keynote speakers at this year’s Insurance Day Summit Bermuda, which takes place on the island over June 12 and 13.
Also taking to the Insurance Day stage will be a host of industry chief executives from the Bermuda, London and US insurance markets including Alterra Capital chief executive, Marty Becker, Validus Re boss, Conan Ward and the president and chief executive of the Navigators Group, Stan Galanski.
This year’s summit will once again take place at the prestigious Fairmont Hamilton Princess Hotel on the island.
