Stuart is the Chief Executive Officer of Iron-Starr Excess Agency Ltd., a managing general underwriting agency representing Ironshore Insurance and the CV Starr Group of Companies and their syndicated approach to writing financial lines and excess casualty business and the future growth of the platform into additional lines of business.
Stuart joined Iron-Starr in 2009 building out their financial lines platform.
Stuart is a Chartered Accountant and spent the first half of his financial services career with KPMG, in Canada and Bermuda, the majority of which was focused on consulting on a wide range of engagements for insurance, reinsurance and captive insurance companies.
Stuart started his underwriting career with Chubb writing primary financial lines and professional liability for public and private North American based entities.
He managed a team responsible for Chubb’s financial lines business in western Canada and participated in various corporate initiatives on behalf of Chubb Insurance Company of Canada.
He then spent time with AIG Cat Excess in Bermuda where he focused on the underwriting and growth of an excess financial lines and professional liability business with specific focus on the growth of the professional liability book.
