David Law

David Law, Head of Risk & Audit & Chief Risk Officer, Olympic Delivery Authority

David Law is an experienced risk and audit professional and strong advocate of the benefits of practising sound risk governance and of managing risk through an enterprise-wide risk management framework.

David has specialised in risk management for 30 years and has held several senior risk and audit positions in the financial services sector most notably at Lloyds TSB where he was Director of Group Audit and Director of Group Risk.

David moved into the field of interim management in 2004 and worked for 12 months with RWE npower as Head of Risk Control where he was responsible for establishing a central risk team charged with ensuring the effective control of energy commodity trading risk.

He also worked at RWE Thames Water where he was interim Chief Risk Officer and helped develop enterprise-wide risk management.

In the summer of 2006 David was tempted by the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of the team charged with delivering the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games and took up his present position of Head of Risk & Audit and Chief Risk Officer with the Olympic Delivery Authority.

David is married with two grown-up daughters who rate his job with the Olympics as ‘cool’: the ultimate accolade.
