David Wood

David Wood, Detective Chief Inspector Head Of Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department, London Police
David joined the City of London Police in 1984 as a PC, serving his probation at Snow Hill Police Station.
He spent time on the plain-clothes unit and surveillance squad before being promoted as PS 81 C. He served as a uniform Sergeant at Bishopsgate Police Station before taking post in 1996 as the Plain Clothes Unit Sergeant at Bishopsgate. David moved to Snow Hill CID as a Detective Sergeant until he was posted to the Force Head Quarters on the Central Detective Unit until 2002.
David became a uniform Inspector at Snow Hill BCU following a time as the temporary Business Manager. In 2004 David became the Detective Inspector of CID for Snow Hill and was then promoted to be the Detective Chief Inspector.
In 2009, when the two BCU’s merged to become one Territorial Command Unit, David became Head of Crime for Territorial Policing as the DCI.
David was appointed as temporary Deputy Divisional Commander of Territorial Policing in June 2009.
In October 2010 he was selected to become Head of IFED
He has been commended on 6 occasions for detective ability and leadership in operations that led him to make enquires in America, Poland and India.
David is the founder and present Chairman of the City of London Police and Community Boxing Club aimed at engaging with local young people. It trains twice weekly at Wood St Head Quarters with an ever increasing membership.
David was awarded the Queen’s Long Service and Good Conduct Medal by the Chairman of the Police Authority in 2007. David is an avid supporter of West Ham United Football Club.
